Hello friends! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website and blog. I’m so freaking excited to kickoff 2019 with the launch of my personal brand Benjamin Atchley Creative! This year I am declaring growth as I’m pushing myself to try new things like being vulnerable enough to write about my passions and experiences every single month. It’s been quite a wild journey getting here with many many ups and downs (which I’m sure I’ll share in a later blog post), but for today WE CELEBRATE! *queue confetti*
Let me introduce myself, my name is Ben Atchley and I’m a 20 year old creative living in Riverside, California. I’m a cinematographer, photographer, daily taco eater, skater, punk rocker, and world traveler. I will be using my humble platform to write about some of my favorite subjects as I continue to build my business and grow as a human being. You can expect to read about topics like creativity, small business, photo and video, productivity, mental health, and even a few posts about my overall lifestyle. Exciting right!? I hope you follow along with me!
My Creative Influences
I thought it would be fun to share some of my major influences as a creative to help you better understand my mind and style inspirations a bit more. Growing up in California, from a very young age I obsessed about things like skateboarding and dirt bike riding (and pretty much anything dangerous really). I have countless memories skating with friends at the elementary school up the street from my house. I also played way too many hours of Tony Hawk Pro Skater and MX Unleashed on the Playstation 2 which exposed me to a variety of music. The music I listened to influenced me so much, I actually ended up convincing my parents to buy me a drum set. I remember being so inspired by John Bonham the drummer for Led Zeppelin because I predominantly listened to metal and classic rock. Throughout all of this, I often had a camera with me. I would film myself skating, playing my best drum solo, I’d even make music videos with my Legos, and occasionally make zombie apocalypse films in my friends backyard.
This Is The Beginning
I’m a dreamer. But never did I think I would end up where I am today. I guess life has a funny way of doing that to you though. To this day, I still keep up with my favorite skaters, hardcore bands, movie directors, and while I don’t play video games much I do reminisce playing Halo after school from time to time. A lot of my time today is spent learning everything I possibly can about photography and filmmaking. In fact, for the last few years my job has been to tell peoples stories through media. But in 2019, I’ve made it my goal to start sharing my own story and I’m super excited because that all starts now.
